Alice in Chains have been forced to cancel the remainder of their current tour and all upcoming festival appearances due to founding drummer Sean Kinney‘s recent “medical emergency.” On Friday (May 9), the band released an official statement on Instagram, writing: “After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performance and the Alice in Chains headline shows. While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment. Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time.” AIC only played one scheduled show on their current tour – their first since 2023 – on April 27 at Las Vegas’ Sick New World fest, before cancelling their remaining dates due to Kinney’s undisclosed medical condition. The cancelled shows include festivals like Columbus’ Sonic Temple and Daytona Beach’s Welcome to Rockville, as well as a high-profile appearance at Black Sabbath’s historic reunion concert in Birmingham, England on July 5.
