Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who recently toured with Pearl Jam, was sentenced to one year probation and 60 days of community labor after pleading no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence for a fatal accident last year. Klinghoffer accepted a no-jail plea deal while appearing in a courtroom in Alhambra, California, on criminal charges associated with the 2024 incident where he struck and killed pedestrian Israel Sanchez while driving his vehicle in a crosswalk. The victim’s only daughter, Ashley Sanchez, delivered an emotional victim impact statement to the court. “My father was an extraordinary grandfather to my [children],” she said. “His absence has left an irreversible void in our lives.” The family’s efforts to seek punitive damages over the tragic incident have been denied twice by the judge, with a hearing in the civil case scheduled for July 1.
